Perhaps, sixty years after the atrocities of the Holocaust we have become so sheltered in our American cocoon that we have chosen to forget the importance of Israel. Many Holocaust survivors have expressed that the reason Jews have been persecuted throughout history is because we were at the mercy of whatever nation’s government was willing to accept us. After the death camps were liberated most survivors had nowhere to go. Their former homes had been pillaged, their families murdered, and whatever countries they had been from no longer wanted them back. Israel rose out of the ashes of the Holocaust as a Jewish state where every Jew is always welcome.
However, six decades later we are facing yet another persecution. Our Arab neighbors, who have continually attacked us, have found an ally in the American left to carry out their anti-Israel agenda. Since Obama’s election we have seen countless examples of his complicity of Israel’s foes including snubbing Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, turning his back on Iranian dissidents who were demonstrating against a regime that calls for Israel’s annihilation, and siding with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a terrorist group whose primary agenda is wiping Israel off the map.
One must wonder, why is it then that most American Jews vote democrat? Do they not realize that as Israel goes, so does the fate of the Jews throughout the world?!
